SUNSET TRAIL
This weekend I was able to finish my first painting of the new year "Sunset Trail".
Like I mention in my blog post below, this one came together pretty fast for
me as I had to let my "Rachael Carson Footbridge" painting dry some
before doing any more on it. Notice how the blue at the top
makes the orange colors come alive. Click on the link below to
see the large photo of it on my website.

UPDATE ON SHOW
In the last newsletter I talked about my next show at Matthew's Arts in Bellevue. I'm
working on the paintings for it and it definitely looks like most of them will reflect my
love of trails. After winter is over I'll be able to go outside and start on the frames
that I paint to match my paintings and then it's on to promotional efforts of
which I haven't decided yet. Keep your eyes on my blog for updates on
where I am with things and when July is here I hope to see you opening night!

ARTISTIC QUOTES OF THE WEEK
"It takes a long time for a man to look like his portrait" - James Whistler
"Reason is powerless in the expression of Love" - Rumi
"Believe it or not, I can actually draw" - Jean Michel Basquiat

WHAT I'M WORKING ON NOW
Right now in the studio I'm bouncing between three paintings, "Rachael Carson
Footbridge", "Summer Glory 2", and of course "Marc Andre Fluery" who has
taken a back seat to the landscape work right now but he should be ready
to go for the show in July if all goes well. I'm finding the advise that I got
from another artist starting to work well for me. If you want to finish
a bunch of paintings, start a bunch of paintings.

READERS FORUM
Anne Taylor of Bellevue has something for the forum this week, She wants
to update us on the artistic pursuits of her children, Thanks Anne!
"Laura (12) has knitted a shawl for my mother who had a stroke almost 6 years ago,
now. As God would have it, she ran out of the yarn that she was using and then
found a beautiful complimentary yarn to finish it off on the fancy edge. She was
just given that yarn for Christmas from her friend, and it made the shawl even
more beautiful than it would have been before."
"Lucia (5) is a rainbow girl, still. She colors and draws every single day, as well
as sings. She is drawing pictures of people she loves and houses, and has
made a replica of a picture of Jesus at Easter time that she drew last year. This
is how she described it: "I make him bigger than everyone else and I drew
better legs and arms. I didn't make him smile on the cross this time. He
probably wasn't smiling. . . only after, he was."
"Nathaniel (13) is writing mostly, but he did make characters for a story he was
writing. He made them with little stands so they could stand. They
are like animal warriors and friends. There were about 4."
Remember the forum is for all to share anything art related so feel free
to e-mail me and it will make the next newsletter!

WRAPPING IT UP
I'm going to close this time by sharing with you some good news. You may recall from
my blog where I mentioned the three collectors who because of the economy
postponed their commissions that they wanted me to paint for them. I'm happy
to say that my Mother who meets with one of these people just told me
today that we are back on again in March and that in the meantime he has
taken many, many more photos of his cats so I can choose the best ones.
See I told you everyone is an artist! I'll see you again in a few weeks.
