Today I went to my bank like I normally do and was asked how I'm coming with my "Christmas Commission". It's so nice to see people taking an interest in my work. People that I don't even know are waving "hi" to me. I'm not sure if they know I'm a local artist, or just picking up on my confidence and smile. I like to think that it's a combination of the two.
My window display is coming in January so I'm hoping that even more people see what I have to offer as an artist. I plan on having eight to nine paintings along with one of those business card holders you put on the window. I'm going to print what I'm about as an artist on some nice glossy photo paper and have them placed in the display so people can know about the commission work that I do.
I recall Sue, the owner of our local art center, talking about having one of those "art walks" this summer. This is where people who are into art get to see all the local artists studios and gallerys all in one day by simply walking from each venue in an organized manner and allowing each place to share with the crowd what they do. I would love to show people my studio but I'm concerned about my cats and how they like to go outside the door into my apartments hallway whenever the door is opened. Maybe I could have a friend act as a "cat sitter" while it's going on to keep an eye on them.
If all goes well I hope to show my work in one of the new coffee shops in town, but it's too early to see if that's an option yet. I haven't even had a cup of coffee and/or gone inside to check it out so one step at a time is in order here.
Next weekend I'll put the art on the "back burner" so that I can get decorated for Christmas, get my tree up, and start my shopping. After that it's back to work along with enjoying this special time of the year. Having said that, enjoy your shopping and decorating and be safe while doing so. I'll see you again in a few days, take care!
