I found out through another artists blog that there is a new art scam out there. It seems people are making copies of artist instructional videos and selling them for their own profit. When will it end? I have always believed that if these kind of people put as time, planning, and effort into something creative and legal using their equipment and talents as they do their scams, they would be successful. Imagine that, making your own videos and selling them!
I remember when the artist website "boon" was in full gear and the thing then was people taking your JPEGS and claiming them as their own artwork. That came to an end when these people saw that art online communities such as "Wet Canvas" had artists post whenever they saw their own artwork or a friends artwork being claimed somewhere by another person. Lets hope the same sort of deal happens here and these people realize that artists are on to them.
Enough being on the soapbox, I'm off it now. I want to bring you up to speed on where I am on my artwork. On my "Christmas Commission" I started adding form to the main element to begin the illusion of realism. The second main element of the painting has a series of windows on it that are lit up and I started to add colors in a way to show the light inside. I've been lending a hand to a friend having to take care of some medical concerns this week so I haven't been able to do anymore on "Bellevue Avenue" but I hope to be done with it soon. That's all for now, one last point today. If you do plan on buying artist instructional videos, please be careful and make sure you're buying the "real deal". Take care and I'll see you this weekend.

I see a guy on Ebay who is selling Richard Schmid DVDs as well as a few others. Each week the auction ends (with bids of about $25 for a video) and then the next week, the same set of videos is available for a new auction. It's sickening. If we could just get the word out to artists around the world, we could probably put this guy out of business.
Complaining to Ebay doesn't work very well because guys like him just create a new store under another name and begin again. A separate issue is that of Smartflix. They can legally rent, but they are really hurting the business of the artists who produce the videos.
OK.. I'll get off my soapbox too now :-)
