Today I want to share with you some of the things about being an artist that maintain and possibly over time improve your health.
The first one will be a familiar feeling to those out there that practice meditation. About 20 minutes into a painting session, your heart rate drops and your breathing becomes very relaxed. Not only that but any tension in your upper body seems to go away as well. You could almost say that painting is meditation in a way.
The mental benefits are obvious as an artist has the ability to create any imagery that they feel to express an emotion or feeling, or to create an image that helps them cope with a feeling or emotion. As far as my artwork that normally would be the beautiful outdoors on a sunny day witch brings me to the final benefit, your physical health.
I take hikes as most of you know to take photos and explore trail systems in my area so I'm keeping my health up along with always moving around at work. What I found though is that between standing to do the art, focusing on your computer to conduct business, and thinking of ways to expose your art, you really bring the mind-body-soul concept into play as an artist without really being aware of it. I know in my case that those feelings help you keep going forward when you come across setbacks in your artwork or personal live.
Thats all I have for now, do you get any health benefits from doing artwork or crafts? Leave a comment and let me know and I'll see you on Friday to close out the week, take care.
