I have decided to share some information with all of you. I am not yet a full time artist. Yes I work a very demanding day job and paint mostly in the evenings and weekends. I went about following the advice of being as professional as possible even when you are not maybe to a fault. I've had a feeling from time to time that most people who check on my website have figured it out by now.
I work as a detail shop superviser for an automotive dealership and spread the word about my art there as much as possible. As a matter of fact, one of the salesman is a collector of my work and has a painting hanging in his office. The "superbike" commission that I'm doing now is also for a salesman. At least at the end of the day I have new contacts and leads to offer my artwork to. Sometimes I do come home a little "flat" and don't paint but I try to recover and get into my routine again the next day. Trust me it is tough to disipline yourself to be on your feet for 8 hours in the day, and then come home and paint for 3 or 4 hours but that is the way it is.
I live in a one bedroom apartment and guess what the bedroom is used for, my studio! Yes you have to have a studio to be a seroius artist and I do. How neat is this, just three doors up from me is Mr. Bob Huckenstein a professional artist who is there to "mentor" me any time I want so I guess I'm blessed. People drive down our street all the time not knowing that they just passed two oil painting studios! So all and all thats it, I'm an artist on the rise working a job to support my efforts to someday be the guy three doors up from me. Do you have a story to relate to me? Leave me a post and let me know. Thats all for now, I'll see you on Wednesday.
