It's Monday morning and I'm getting things together in the studio including todays blog post. As you know if you read Fridays post, I'm back to writing my own "material" if you will. I felt I covered alot of information from others and that it was time to put the focus back into my artwork. It feels good already to have my "writers cap" back on.
This weekend I concentrated on my "superbike" commission where things are coming together nicely. I started some of the detail work on the helmet and most of the uniform has been outlined with color. The whole key to this painting is keeping the paint thin. I want to be able to keep adding layers of color to break the big shapes into smaller ones. This is the best way to go about doing a painting with as much detail as this one will have when it's done. It's about working your way up to the detail, I once heard of a teacher who would say "You don't bake a cake by starting with the frosting!"
The other thing I did this weekend was to contact the people that I'm doing the
mural for. I told them that I'm going to come up every weekend until it's done. I should be able to wrap it up by the first week of May if all goes well.
Thats it for now, it felt good to just let go and write. One thing will never change and that is you leaving a post about your thoughts and comments. Take care and I'll see you on Wednesday.
