Recently while I was online looking at what was going on in the art world I came across this story that I think you will enjoy. It involves a large group of artists and the show they were entering.
The juried show was for works done on paper and over two thousand artists entered it. What happened was that the jury only ended up accepting one hundred paintings for the show. This is common as that's all the art the venue can hold maybe for a show, or politics of some sort might be involved. The cool thing is that the artists all stayed in touch with one another and decided to do something creative about it.
What they ended up doing was having their own show and they decided to call it "Rejected Works On Paper"! What a great creative idea to end up with what you wanted to do in the first place, show your work. I don't believe the story went into how successful the show was , but I don't think that matters because it must have been fulfilling to come up with their own thing.
The other reason I wanted to share with you this type of story is to use it as an example of the kind of new stuff that you will find in my newsletter. I have a section of three links where I give readers some "wacky websites" where they can catch a quick laugh. I hate to say it, but I might have found most of them as I found myself repeating a couple of them after the fact. What I'm going to do now is replace that with tree links to interesting art stories from around the world and I hope you like it! Speaking of, the first newsletter with the new section will be out tomorrow and on the website as well, take care!
