Today I'm announcing that I will be donating "Roses" to the Breast Cancer Awareness Auction at my local art center, Matthews Arts in Bellevue. Between paintings and prints I believe we are up to about 30 pieces to be donated. We have a local realty company Prudential sponsoring and promoting the event so we are looking for a good turnout.
This is the first time that I have donated one of my framed oil paintings to a charity and it feels really good to be involved with such a great cause. Barb, the lady who will be doing the auctioning has never done it before but I think she'll do fine, this is the first time for everyone. The Chevy dealer across the street will donate their parking lot and chairs as always so I'm expecting things to go smoothly. It will be Saturday evening October 6th from 6:00 to 9:00. For those of you interested in checking it out go to their website
Matthew's Arts.
In related news while I was at the center leaving my painting for the auction, Sue Matthews the owner told my that one of her students in the childrens class did her own version of one of my paintings. The young lady is 12 and she saw my painting that I have there "Tropical Wave" and told Sue that she wanted to "do that one". She did a great job, had Sue put a frame on it and I believe her grandma is going to buy it from her. I think it's neat that things have come full circle, thats were I learned how to paint, and by copying other paintings.
Thats all for now, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave me a post. Enjoy your weekend and I'll see you on Monday!
