FINDING NEW VENUES

Monday morning is here again, and today I thought I would share my thoughts on finding new venues to expose my artwork. Right now because I'm working on my mural commission every other weekend, I'm not looking for a big show of any sort. I'll save that for spring next year and I'll be sure to let you know, but I am always looking for simple little ways to get the word out on my framed oil paintings and I found three that I'm going to share with you today.
The one I like the best would be to have a small showing in my mother's old apartment. She still talks to and sees a lot of her former tenants and two of these people are collectors of mine. One of which when I saw her recently told me that their entertainment room is available for a $50.00 deposit that you get back if you clean up! Lets see, a "free" room where a hundred or so people living in the building where the room is in could come down and see my latest work. Can't get much better then that, so I plan on doing something down there for the holidays offering some smaller holiday artworks along with my current framed oil paintings on hand. I'll keep you posted on it.
Another venue I'm exploring next month, is getting a table at my sister's church's craft show that they do from time to time. The cost is only $20.00 a table and I think I could make a nice simple showing for myself and what I'm about. I asked if I could set up and paint there, but she said it's inclosed and some of their older church members have breathing problems so that wouldn't be a good idea here but I still think it would be nice to meet these people and see the handy work of others as well.
The last venue to share with you today is the one that would require the most preparation, A nice show at our local coffee shop in Bellevue. They display art of local artists and some of them have had formal shows here, opening night and all. Again like my regular show in the spring, this will happen early next year. Maybe I can time it so the work goes from the one show, right down to the next one but that is too far into the future to see right now. Anyway thats about it today as far as venues I'm working on for my framed oil paintings. Leave me a post on venues that have worked for you as an artist or places that you really enjoyed seeing artwork displayed if you are a collector or art lover. I look forward to hear from you, take care and I'll see you on Wednesday!
