CALI AND BENJAMIN

It feels good to back at it again on my blog. I have been very fortunate these last two months to get some commissioned work and show my work at a couple of craft shows. I wish I would have started doing that sooner as it just felt right to be able to show the work and talk to people one on one and answer their questions. I'll expand on all that tonight in my latest newsletter, but today it's all about the cats.
Almost a year ago my computer crashed and I thought that some of my photos of my work were lost. I had a women who was interested in having her cat painted and she e-mailed me asking me if she could see any "animal" work that I did. I thought I was at a loss as the one I knew of was one of those lost photos. I went through my CD's of my artwork photos just to see and to my surprise I had it!
I did a pet portrait of my two cats for my mother a couple of years ago for Christmas. I was lucky to have my camera handy as my cats were sitting right next to each other with plenty of light coming in through the window. Notice how I made the background go from light to dark so that both cats stand out in contrast. On a sad note, Cali on the left is no longer with us do to a blood clot but Benjamin has a new "sister" Gloria that is just as much a character as she was.
The women saw the photo when I posted it on my site and I'm happy to say I'm working on a portrait of her cat in my studio right now. I have another gentleman who wants one of his three cats done, and in the next few days will be meeting with him again to look at the photos he took of them. Things are happening and again I'll be expanding on that tonight sharing with everybody what I've been doing this last month and a half. Take care and be sure to check your e-mail and as always, have a great day!
