FRAMED AND READY TO HANG

Today I thought I would share some of my ideas that go into putting frames on my oil paintings. When I was starting out, I went to local yard sales and flea markets and purchased large wooden frames. From there I would cut it down in a miter box down to the size of my painting. I would fill and sand the frame and then spray paint it to match the painting. I got great feedback from this at my local art center at shows so it became part of my process. Today I fabricate alot of my own frames from pine strips but still I love to come across a nice frame and stretch a canvas to fit it. For my works 18"x24" and under I go with ready made frames but again I still paint the frame to match the painting. As I talked about on Mondays blog, I will have photos posted soon showing some of my works together and matching frames on them. I do offer my work unframed if a collector prefers, but I love to frame my own work including commissions. Feel free to post any questions you may have about how I frame or framing in general including how you go about it and I'll see you on Friday, have a great day!
