ART ALL NIGHT
by PAT QUINN on 4/13/2009 8:42:29 PM

It's April once again so it's time for "Art All Night" in Lawerenceville. For Those of you not familiar with this annual event, each year there is an art show in a different building in Lawerenceville where any artist can exhibit one of their paintings. There is no censorship so you might not want to bring the kids to this one. People that attend the event can fill out a card with their information for the artist if they want to purchase the artwork so everything must be for sale. I didn't have anything there last year but the year before I did. The only thing that sucked was that I didn't get to attend the event so I can't tell you what the atmosphere is like as well as how crowded it is.

I plan on having something there and also going to it this year. I haven't decided on what I'm going to bring but I will let you know when I do. This year it will be Saturday night the 25th at 3510 Smallman Street in the new Red Warehouse so if you get a chance, check it out.

In other news, I'm going to be calling a collector of mine to see if an exhibition space is still available to me. This women once told me her apartments party room might be a nice place for a showing of my work and it is a large apartment so I'm sure a nice group of people would come down to take a look. She said that if you clean up afterwards you get your deposit on the room back so I don't think I can pass it up!

I'm finding that in todays economy, an artist has to be just as creative in finding places to show the work as they do in creating it. As a matter of fact, some artists are aggressively booking shows with museums as they are looking for the best "rock bottom" ways to show new artwork themselves. I myself will continue to work my "local mojo" for now but you never know! Take care and I'll see you again soon.
